Gary Sinise and Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Celebrate 29 Years of Service Together
August 21st, 2023
The pivotal relationship between Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and Gary Sinise has reached yet another major milestone. 29 years ago, Gary was honored by the DAV for his portrayal of the iconic Vietnam Veteran, Lt. Dan Taylor. It was a watershed moment in Gary's journey from self to service; and with his unwavering support of our nation's heroes, Gary continues to support both the DAV and the brave men and women whom they serve.
The award's wording: "Your superb performance brought awareness of the lifelong sacrifice of disabled veterans back into public consciousness in a remarkably positive way," had a profound and life-altering effect on Gary, and his unwavering commitment to our nation's defenders soon became his lifelong mission.
Over the last 29 years, Gary has supported the DAV in a variety of important initiatives; including but not limited to serving as the national spokesperson to build the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial in Washington, D.C., which was dedicated and opened to the public in 2014. Soon after, the DAV honored its longstanding relationship with Gary and his commitment to supporting those who have served with the "Magic Legs" award.
Earlier this month, Gary Sinise & the Lt. Dan Band also reached another milestone with their 300th show since the Foundation began in 2011!
It was an unforgettable night as Gary and the Band performed at the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) convention in Atlantic City, NJ. The show was filled with an endless supply of Honor, Gratitude, and a whole lotta Rock & Roll.
Today, please join us in celebrating and honoring both Gary and the DAV for their incredible service and support of our nation's wounded heroes.
