Jason Ross Before Explosion

Jason's Incredible Story of Bravery & Patriotism

Retired U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sergeant Jason Ross is a native of Livermore, California. After completing his first enlistment, he decided to change his focus to Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD). In March 2011, during his second deployment to Afghanistan, Jason was injured by an improvised explosive device (IED). He lost both legs to amputation and part of his pelvic bone. Jason was initially treated at Walter Reed National Medical Center before transferring to the Naval Medical Center San Diego. Since his injury, Jason has lived life in and out of the hospital for more than three years, undergoing over 240 surgeries.Jason’s family remains his motivation. His parents continue to care for him and his two daughters full-time. As of now, Jason only rides his power chair which allows him to get around to most places. His specially adapted smart home is designed to cater to his unique needs, affording him an even greater sense of independence in a positive environment. Jason and his family received the keys and iPad to their custom specially adapted smart home in August of 2015.
