Angela M.

was in Valley Stream, NY on 9/11/01.

I watched in disbelief as the second tower was hit and the North Tower stood with smoke pouring out. The ache in every fiber of my being knowing my dad was working at Windows on the World was like nothing I had ever felt before. As I frantically called my dad's phone with no connection ever being made, life felt like it was spiraling out of control. An overwhelming feeling of a part of my soul being ripped put came over me as the North Tower collapsed. I watched my father's last moments alive aired on television and was helpless to do anything. I would spend the next 25 years trying to keep his memory alive trying to remember the sound of his voice or the smell of his clothes, a perfect mix of sawdust and old spice. Dad I will never forget you and I will never let anyone else forget you. I love you and miss you always.

Gary & Family at a vigil on Sept 14, 2001

A generation of Americans has no memory of 9/11. Stories like Angela's help them remember.

At the Gary Sinise Foundation, we're preserving the stories of those who experienced it so they can be shared with generations to come. We must never forget the pain we endured, the heroism we witnessed, or the togetherness we felt.

Your story is part of our history. Will you share it?
