Gayani Weerasinghe

Gayani R. Weerasinghe, is an accomplished corporate and intellectual property attorney with ten years of experience in the practice of law and has a strong background in biomedical science and research. Her comprehensive understanding of legal intricacies, combined with a solid scientific foundation, has positioned her as a leading figure in the biotech sector.

Her expertise encompasses a wide range of legal areas, including intellectual property, corporate compliance, licensing agreements, and mergers and acquisitions. She excels in navigating the intersection of law and technology to drive business success. She has both law firm and corporate in-house experience. She currently serves as a general counsel for smaller companies and entrepreneurs with their corporate and IP needs, such as trademarks, copyrights, and IP licenses.

Gayani has served on the board of directors for several nonprofit organizations in San Diego. She was the former co-editor of the San Diego Lawyer Magazine and the former chair of the Women in Bio (WIB) Southern California Chapter from 2021 to 2022. She is joining the Gary Sinise Foundation Board of Directors to support the community of heroes and their families who have sacrificed to serve the nation and others.
