Gary Sinise Foundation Snowball Express was honored to host a very special Memorial Day Event for several families of our fallen heroes and helped them visit their fallen loved ones’ final resting place at Arlington National Cemetery. It was a time for these families to reflect, remember, and pay tribute to their own fallen service member, and also to their brothers and sisters in arms who so selflessly paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
This memorable trip also included a special dinner at Maggiano's, a Scavenger Hunt at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural Art History, a Washington Nationals Game, and Snowball families were able to attend the National Memorial Day Concert and the Memorial Day parade! See highlights from the Memorial Day Event below!
Snowball families enjoyed dinner at Gary's favorite restaurant, Maggiano’s. The dinner included two Snowball moms sharing the experience of losing a loved one.
The trip included a special way to make new memories by connecting with other families during a Scavenger Hunt at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural Art History. The competition was fierce and many of the young adults connected across three different families!
The Snowball families also attend a Washington Nationals game. It was an extremely powerful moment when the entire stadium paused for the singing of the national anthem, and kids got to run the bases after the game.
Prior to hosting with National Memorial Day concert, our very own Gary Sinise and GSF Ambassador Joe Mantegna, took a moment to spend time with Snowball Families during rehearsal and take photos. It was a very emotional and special moment for these families.
Gary and GSF Ambassador Chef Robert Irvine got the chance to meet and spend time with Snowball Families prior and during the Memorial Day parade!
On behalf of Gary Sinise and all of us at Team GSF, we send our love to all the families of our fallen, our incredible Snowball Express families. You are not alone, and your hero’s selfless sacrifice will never be forgotten.
