On behalf of everyone at the Gary Sinise Foundation, we are deeply saddened by the tragic killing of George Floyd, and our hearts go out to his family. As senior law enforcement officials across the country have noted—the actions taken against George Floyd were deeply disturbing, and inconsistent with the principles of justice, training, and standard policies and procedures of law enforcement.
At the Gary Sinise Foundation, our Chairman, Mr. Gary Sinise, and our valued teammates, are committed to the notion that all people deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. This tragedy brings to light the importance of that guiding principle, as well as the Gary Sinise Foundation’s work to build and strengthen communities and bridge the gaps that divide us. Our commitment to strengthening the connections between our military, first responder and civilian communities has been part of the fabric of our Foundation’s mission since the beginning…and is now more important than ever.
At this watershed moment in our nation’s history, we believe it is a time to listen, to facilitate dialog, and to act to help create change. In the meantime, we remain focused on the Gary Sinise Foundation mission, “honoring and supporting our defenders, veterans, first responders, their families and those in need,” with the hope of building a tomorrow that is better than today.
