In 2006 Gary took his band, the Lt. Dan Band, to perform for our troops at the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base in Cuba with the USO. It was a trip Gary always remembered and knew he would return to visit again one day.
Eleven years later, on September 28, 2017, Gary Sinise & the Lt. Dan Band now a program of the Gary Sinise Foundation, made their return to play for the military troops and their loved ones. Once again it was a trip of a lifetime, and one Gary and the band will never forget.
There is no entertainment outside the gate here, we’re our own little community. Very isolated. So, having a well-known band and star from the United States is really great for morale.
– Capt. David Culpepper, Commanding Officer
With a night filled of music from all genres and words of appreciation, hundreds of people came together for an evening of fun.
While at Guantanamo Bay, Gary also visited personally with our active duty military and spent time with their families.
Your belief in our mission has played an integral role in our achievements through our outreach programs. As our efforts have grown each year, so has our Gary Sinise Foundation family. Our family is made up of selfless heroes, donors, volunteers, and a dedicated staff. Each role is vital to our success and we cherish them deeply.
Our military families and children serve right alongside our service members and I thank every military child all around the world for hanging in there.
– Gary Sinise
