I was at our home in Lee’s Summit, MO and had gotten my son off to school and was just getting the day going when I got a phone call from my husband Randy. He was working in New York and called me to let me know he was ok, they were evacuating his building and he said he’d call me when he knew more. He told me he loved me and I remember saying “make sure you call me, I love you” and he said “I love you too”. That was at 8:56 EST. At 9:03 EST the second tower was hit and I was watching it on tv. So I immediately tried calling him and got no answer. Little did I know he had been hit with debris when the second plane hit the south tower. It wasn’t until 7:30 pm that I knew he was still alive. At midnight I found out how bad it was. I was able to get to NY on Thursday and brought him home to Missouri and on 9/22/2001 he passed away from his injuries. But I got to hold his hand and at least get to say goodbye.
