Mac Sinise joined the Gary Sinise Foundation in March 2017. While his father, Gary Sinise, was spending a majority of his time helping veterans, Mac grew up in an environment steeped in the mission of the foundation. During his adolescence, he played drums in the Lt. Dan Band and learned much about the mission of his father while being mentored by Gary’s long time drummers Danny and Beth Gottlieb. He traveled with the band on many USO tours including Guantanamo Bay, Germany, and Italy. Mac saw his father change from a successful actor in the entertainment industry to a true patriot and humanitarian after the attacks on 9/11. Mac seeks to embody his father’s mission while doing his best to do a little more. He works in the Center for Education and Outreach as a digital and analog archivist, docent, and events coordinator.
After graduating with a B.A. in Music from University of Southern California Thornton School of Music, Mac toured Europe and the United States as a professional drummer. He toured with opening acts on the Megan Trainor All About that Bass European Tour, Lindsay Sterling’s Music Box Tour, and played multiple TV performances with One Direction’s Niall Horan. While working as a freelance drummer, Mac also pursued his skills in music composition. He was the Executive Producer and Music Composer for the animated short film Luna and Lars and earned many awards, honors, and exposure at the Santa Barbara Film Festival, WorldFest Houston, and Cinequest Film Festival.
