Kim joined the Gary Sinise Foundation in July 2014 and is currently the Director of Human Resources. She was born in Seoul, Korea, where she was adopted by her dad, who retired from the Air Force. Growing up in a military family (also affectionately known in military circles as a “military brat”), her lifelong dream was to become a veterinarian, but as fate would have it, she decided to follow in her father’s footsteps and enlisted in the Air Force after graduating from high school. While working in the Air Force as a Personnel Technician and later in Human Resources as a DOD civil servant, she discovered the importance of Human Resources in supporting an organization's greatest assets, their employees, and those experiences renewed her desire for higher educational pursuits.
Kim graduated with honors from Strayer University, gaining her Bachelor of Business Administration and MBA in Human Resource Management. Combined with over 20 years of Human Resources experience in both the federal and civilian worlds, she is using her experiences in staffing, position classification, employee training and development, benefits, and employee relations to redefine the Human Resource Department.
It has always been Kim’s belief in service before self and treating others the same way you want to be treated. These principles have enriched her life in ways she never thought possible, ultimately leading to the distinct honor and privilege to work for and with Gary Sinise at the Gary Sinise Foundation. She especially cherishes the opportunity not only to be a part of the Foundation’s growth but also to give back to the service members, fellow veterans, first responders, and their families, all of which are represented within her own family and friends that are retired and currently serving in the Air Force, Army, Navy, Marines, New Orleans Police Department, and Los Angeles Police Department.
