About Sgt. Michael Nicholson
On July 6, 2011 Michael was on combat foot patrol in Afghanistan when he was injured by an improvised explosive device (IED), resulting in him losing both of his legs and his left arm. He also sustained a traumatic brain injury because of the explosion. Eight months after arriving at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Michael made his way home to Tampa, Florida where he was greeted by thousands of supporters. He had one request of those who were in attendance as part of his homecoming, “I just want to ask you to pray for the guys who are still in Afghanistan, and for the soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines recovering in Bethesda, San Antonio, and Balboa.” Read his full bio.
All proceeds from this concert will benefit the construction of SGT Michael Nicholson’s Smart Home.
About Gary Sinise & the Lt. Dan Band
“Gary Sinise & the Lt. Dan Band” concerts are an integral part of the success of Building for America’s Bravest™. Not only do the concerts provide an opportunity to raise funding for the construction of each Smart Home, but more importantly, in support of each wounded warrior, the concerts serve as a vehicle to Entertain, Educate, Inspire, Strengthen and Build Communities; which is at the core of the Gary Sinise Foundation’s mission. Creating public awareness for each wounded warrior and their family allows for long-term, sustainable support.
